I’ve wanted to try living abroad and garner experience away from home for the longest time, but the idea of fully throwing myself into the deep end always held me back. Being able to work fully remote helped alleviate a lot of that fear. I could focus on finding community, establishing a routine and getting used to a new environment without the added stress of a new job. Play helped me take a big step in my development I otherwise might’ve been too complacent to take.
Possibility to work and have an adventure
My decision to work remotely from abroad began when my partner got the opportunity to go abroad as an exchange student for a semester. Instead of staying at home waiting, I took advantage of the remote work option to join her on this adventure. The company not only offered the possibility to work remotely but also provided support for renting a temporary office space and acquiring necessary work equipment locally. Thanks to this, my experience so far has been very comfortable and memorable.
Excoticism at your fingertips
When my heart was invaded by a partner from an exotic culture, I developed a need to travel a bit more. This also meant that the desire to spend more time together required the ability to work remotely from literally the other side of the world. Since gotoAndPlay enables me to work essentially wherever, I never had to worry that I would have any trouble with work. Two months in the Philippines was a bit more complicated because the small town of Dumaguete had some internet stability problems, but three and a half months in Toronto was a whole lot more convenient. I think it was more difficult for the Estonian side who had to adjust some meetings to my time zone. My part was very simple – laptop went in the backpack on Friday and on Monday a whole 7 hours due west the laptop came out again.
Working here is diverse and exciting
Constant movement and going with the flow accurately describe gotoAndPlay’s everyday life (taking an example from river Emajõgi that runs by our Tartu office). We are thrilled to take on any new challenges – making impossible missions possible, constant brainstorming and actions to improve our work-life are in our DNA.

In the endless jungle of code, our team is the one wielding the machete, hacking through the brush in search of El Dorado – the promised land of perfect code. THE OFFICE
To have a balanced work-life you need a good office. Our fully customized office building in Tartu is optimized to separate open workspace and a comfortable lounge area so that having fun never gets in the way of being productive. We have a lot of recreational tools at our disposal and an open-plan layout really encourages direct communication. We share our cozy space with our besties from the NOPE design agency. In addition, we have a cosy place in Tallinn which we share with some actual angels from AD Angels.
